anyone tried to use yahoo messenger on tablet or msn messenger, any apps.

Install Gaim and you will have both yahoo an msn messenger.

I see maemo.org switched the applications link to the new garage database. The error sounds like the same thing I was getting trying to install applications to the n800 from there.

Did you add the two repositories (I grabbed them from the old database)?

"maemo-gaim package no longer includes support for protocols, these need to be installed separately. they should be listed under "Protocols"."

I installed v1.5.0 it to my n800 this way without any problems.

Umm....I'm a complete noob with this application stuff for the n800


Can someone post a thorough how-to (or direct me to one) that shows exactly how to set up this GAIM on the n800......when i go to that berlios.de site and try to download, it tells me that it's not suitable for my device

any help would be greatly appreciated!

well what i did was exactly as posted above.
from the applcation management area, add these 2 repositoryies.

Repository: http://maemo-hackers.org/apt
Distribution: mistral
Component: main

Repository: http://repository.maemo.org
Distribution: mistral
Component: non-free

and than when you go to the application menu again after an update you will be able to see the list if items that can be installed and Gaim is one of them, it worked for me.

i'm still getting the same error.......when i click details it gives me this: "Unable to install maemo-gaim Application packages missing: libxau0

Try installing maemo-mapper first - it may install the missing libxau0 library for you.
