Posted a new Brainstorm: http://maemo.org/community/brainstor...of_the_system/

The idea is to make the browser support more platform functionality like location and accelerometers, and expose those to rich web applications. That would reduce the gap between web and native applications even further.

Pretty sure that the latest fennec is "location aware".

Fennec is, yes. But I'm talking about Maemo Browser here.

Thanks for the Brainstorm idea, but I think the idea is that users vote for one "winning" solution. The way you've created it, all four solutions are worthwhile, rather than just one of them.

Multiple solutions can be voted on and selected for implementation. The idea is there to collect all the solutions related to integrating the web more tightly with the N900.

If you have solutions that would take the idea further, please add them there.

This has always been my dream, ever since Microsoft had the vision and fortitude to weave Internet Explorer onto its base Windows operating system in a perfect unison.

...

Oh, wait, you meant just to expose more system i/o to it such as gps and accelerometer?

Voted.

I'm working on introducing native functionality to the Web. The product I work on is called http://webvm.net/ and we have demos running on maemo.

We also participate in standards forums like OMTP BONDI and W3C DAP. Initially I would really like to see maemo support BONDI with a view to support the final APIs standardised by the W3C as the process will no doubt take sometime.
