Hi, all

I searched that using Application Manager to install application on Maemo Emulator. But where can I put the installation file? E.g. I want to add some supported music files to the Media Player library, which folder should I drop?
When I launch Media Player in emulator, there are two songs by default, but it fails to play with an error: "Media format not supported".

Thanks a lot!

When I downloading some files using Web Browser, where are these files to store?

Thank you for your reply!

"Emulator" is a term that is not really often used here, most people know it as "SDK", hence it confuses me to read "emulator".

So is there a directory "/home/user/MyDocs/.sounds" in the SDK? Because that is the exact place for mp3 files on the N900 machine.

For Browser downloads, it's "/home/user/MyDocs/Downloads" on the N900 machine.

I couldn't play the supplied clips in the SDK either, with the same error message about unsupported format. I assume it's missing a necessary component to play them, but I haven't investigated further.

navigate into the scratchbox folder in your home directory and find MyDocs in the folder structure.

The issue here is that people are trying to use it as an emulator, and _it is not_. There's only one "Maemo emulator" that I know of and it is based on QEMU and N800/N810 board support.

So unless you have any interest to debug gstreamer or MAFW components I don't know why you wouldn't want to use the media player.

SPECIALLY refrain to use the SDK to check codec support since the device is using DSP codecs and whatever results you get from the SDK will be _INVALID_.

which OS are you running the SDK in. There are some known issues with the sound running the SDK in combination with Karmic.

Cheers Daniel

I'm not amyhu, but I get the same error message running the SDK on Ubuntu 9.04 (i.e. Jaunty), if that helps.

I did, too. I've since come to realize that basing any expectations about the N900 on the SDK's whimsical functionality is a really bad idea and just assume things work on the N900. It makes debugging apps hard without an N900, but thus it is. Perhaps there should be more direct discouragement of setting up the Maemo5 "Emulator" by end users?

Thank you for your guide. I'm perplexing that how to call this term. Now I will use "SDK" instead of "emulator".

But when I navigating to " /scratchbox/users/amy/home/amy/MyDocs", there is no folder nameed "sounds" or "Downloads". so I create a folder "sounds" manually, then in SDK, navigating to file manager to find this file, it cannot be played with the same error in Media Player.
