Have requested my PAC code from Orange. Within 2 days by post apparently.
Will keep you updated. In the meantime Im gonna email MPD back and ask if that means they have the handsets in - though I would assume they would have notified people who've order a while ago of that if they have.

Good luck with getting a reply this week!
Post back if you have any info, try telling them you have your PAC code and do they have the handset for delivery now...

Sorry to spam, just in case anyone didnt see what I posted ( it got buried pretty fast by the response to mrdelgibbons)
here it is again, curious to know what you think:
I got this email from MPD:
Dear Mr *************
Order No. ******
Thank you for your order.
To move your existing mobile number ************* to the Vodafone network from your existing network well require a PAC code. If you dont have a PAC code its easy to obtain one by calling your existing network. For information on how to do this, please see keeping your number on our website ( http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...eepNumber.aspx ) which includes a list of network telephone numbers.
Alternatively we can connect your new phone with a brand new Vodafone number and dispatch the handset immediately.
Is that bold part right there worth getting excited about, or am I just being naieve?

Dear ******
Thank you for contacting us at Amazon.co.uk.
Firstly, please allow me to apologise for the difficulty you have experienced so far with your order #********** I can confirm that the estimated ship date did change but the order is now on time to be delivered to you on December 4th 2009.
While we do our best to adhere to our estimates, our inventory is constantly changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers, and occasionally, changes in our supply chain can add time to your order.
Please be advised that I have contacted our buying team with regard to this delay and they are currently looking into it. Once we receive any update on the order status you will be notified immediately.
