Thanks to OJW of OpenStreetMap, maemomapper users can now use the following URL to get OpenStreetMap tiles:
http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~ojw/AP...d&y=%d&zoom=%d

OSM data is licensed through creative commons, which makes it fully legitimate

FYI: I just release Maemo Mapper v1.4.3 to add formal support for OpenStreetMap. Now you don't need to use OJW's workaround.
