On the N900? Imho it's much more fast on a N8x0 at the moment than on maemo5. But on the other side it needs to much memory on N8x0 devices.

thats exatly what i did - and alot of the time you actually don't need to optomize :P - its when you are squeezing a large application in a smallllll device is when it's needed (I do not speak for good developers in anyyyyy way whatsoever, i'm sure they all optomise their code!)

Is there any way to turn off zooming when a text entry box is tapped?

I would like to know this too. Seems to be the most annoying "feature"... although I do understand that they are only trying to help the usability. It's more of a hindrance than help.

Im not a big fan of the double tap to zoom either, sometimes screens will register more than one tap if you dont hit it just right. Another small thing I would love to see, is when you type in a web address and hit enter and once the page is loaded it would automatically hide the address bar.

Actually, I like the double-tap zoom, and I don't mind the addressbar because it does disappear once you scroll down the page.

Thats true about scrolling the addressbar, the only page I even really care about that on is the maemaps webapp. Ideally Id like the address bar to behave like tear's....long press of dpad/enter to bring it up
