Resistive is the way to go. They just need to be more sensitive. The N900 clearly shows how great resistive can be, and the G1 clearly shows how much capacitive can suck.
Anyway, it's winter here now, and I am happy that I can use my N900 with gloves.

Atmel may have a solution to this problem: their MAXTouch promises very accurate all-point captouch solution. They have demostrated it doing some qute impressive stuff, including ordinary plastic stylus action, just go see their webpage. The tech, however, is not in any commercial products yet afaik. If the next Maemo device(s) are to come out in Q2 2010 it means that the tech choices should be well underway if not already done. If, or more likely when they go for a capacitive solution, please let it be something more sophisticated than the dumb "up to 10 touches" current Synaptics, Cypress or Elan chips... Pretty please.

Personally, I hope Nokia is smart enough to pick up the Stantum multitouch resistive screens that got demoed at CES this year.

I am not sure which one to pick. I love the current screen, but I think that it would be even nicer, if the screen would be harder. The current screen material feels like it will break or get scratched in my pocket.

It just seems to me in the nordic winter the resistive is no brainer. I really hope they aren't gonna get rid of resistive completely

Resistive screens will always be a downgrade, just the fact that the screen has this soft feeling, while touching it. Wheras capacitive are firm (glass). Such as the HD2's.

I can use either. The N900 screen is very nice. I do like how the capacitive screen is brighter. I'll enjoy the N900 even more when MfE works with my server, but that is another thread.

While reading many web pages, such as Google News, I'm to the point of straining my eyes if the light is bad. I just don't see how I can hit links with a finger on such pages. Capacitive just isn't a serious person's pointing device yet.
