I would like to know how 2 different pc's and 2 Linux systems are actually adding the 1?????

They are pulling it from a cache somewhere.
All I know is when I go to the official download site, there's no [1] in there as I've already demonstrated by copying and posting the link.

No there is no [1] in the original filename. It is a standard windows behavior to indicate another copy already exists locally.

Isn't this the maintenance release for the Bora SDK...

This INSTALL.txt file explains how to install and setup the maemo 3.1 development environment in your computer. This document is targeted for maemo developers.

You know, I have seen Windows arbitrarily add file incrementers, but that one is sure in an odd location, especially given the coincidence of version. (3.1, 3[1]). But, the source file doesn't have it, soo...???

This is funny... I know windows would do that but only if the file exist in the system I went to serveral systems that I never touch with maemo so thats that there
I am going to snap a shot of my nix system once I get home...
