Guess I should had given examples but I also made the assumption most people here would know how to Google for what changes after your phone is jailbroken - and no, as stated multiple times, for me it was not about access to pirated software.
I have no doubt a jailbroken iPhone can do a lot of things and good things, but it really is no more iPhone. Go ask St. Steve if he agree with you and if he would mind to "fix" the future iPhones so that we might actually become interested in it.

The part where he calls it a "Shitty device" would seem to be trashing it. Seriously though, there's a lot of people still pining for their N900's, and this poster is just trying to rub people up.
Post the Ebay item number - I'd like to see how much you get for it.
FFS, it's a phone. I didn't like it at all and found it to be vastly inferior to the iPhone. I said so and then offered it up for sale if people would PM me an offer. It's a smart-phone it's not God's gift to men - and neither is the iPhone!
I think in all there were two people who actually pointed out some advantages with the N900 (exchangeable batteries, mem card support, dosbox.
Thing is - batteries and more memory does very little for me if there is not enough in the device to make me want to turn it on.
DOSbox is cool - but in comparison to what I can play on the iPhone it just doesn't hold up.
Anyway, if anyone here really wants it - and have not been a smartass here - send me a PM and I'll sell it for $400 shipped (within the US).

I think the point is, if you are comparing functionality you can only get by jailbraking on the iphone (I have a JB touch, do I win a cookie?) running the 3rd generation version of the software on the 2.5gen hardware from apple, vs the out of the box openness of the 1st gen software and hardware from Nokia about 4 weeks after its release, you're going to find some aspects that are more polished on the iPhone. However, you've already admitted it is critically flawed since you have to illegally jailbreak it, and you're displaying amnesia over the preceding couple of years... after all cut & paste *just* made it to the iPhone, which many people felt was a critical flaw.
I'm glad the OP found his bliss... I also like the iPod Touch as a media player, and likely will keep using mine until the media playing software improves on the n900. I don't think that will take much time though. We also need to get the kindel folks to make a reader, the much better screen on the n900 would be fantastic for books.
Anyway, it's a dinosaur. A wide-open, powerful, delightfully unlocked dinosaur.

It seems that the "moment you give a little negative feedback" and mention the dreaded iPhone ... boom.. thats it your tarred with the iPhone fanboy label.
The guy simply didnt take to the N900... and adding to his comments, I also have fallen into this category... and yeah jeeez I LOVE this handset, but if I am honest my handset is VERY laggy, yup the apps are "dated" and at times the touch screen is just annoying at times to the point I want to throw it out the window!
BUT.... I simply love the fact I have a handset in my hand that I can use just like my PC... albiet its full PC abilities "are just not there quite yet". I aint a developer, a techy kinda guy... I simply just loved the look of the handset and the fact it give me the opportunity to multi task. But for me its "glitches" are too many for me to take on board and as such I am selling my handset too.
And just to add in the dreaded word .... ohhh dare I.."iPhone"... its been around a lot longer than the N900 and its bound to have loads of apps etc.. I just think (my own opinion - a non techy one, just a standard mobile user who likes his gadgets) the iPhone and the N900 are different breeds for different users. Although there's many things I hate about an iPhone one thing I do so miss is its touch screen navigation, I only wish the same kinda touch screen was on the N900. I guess I may of expected too much from such a new handset, but hey it's been fun though ;0)
Anyway, I sincerely hope the N900 goes forth in leaps and bounds and who knows, when its more streamlined I may come back to Nokia again. But hey, lets stop comparing iphone to n900 - and also slating all iphone users just because they "prefer" its interface...lets play nice.. ;0)

With the iPhone, you have to get the information you want, while with Maemo and Android, the information is presented to you in whatever manner you want. A proper desktop is probably one of the most important interface features on a (touch screen) device today. The iPhone has fallen behind on that area and in my opinion, it seriously cripples the user experience because of it.

How I've set up my desktop? What RSS feed I got on it? How well modest runs on Maemo5? If I tried Conboy or not? If my fingers bump against the screen when I type on the keyboard? If I like the resistive screen? What podcasts I put in gpodder and how mplayer plays movies?

You forgot to mention that the facebook widget for the N900 is completely useless as it only displays 2 lines of scrolloing text. It might as well not be there as well.
The RSS widget has also been discussed quite a bit and it's an understatement to say it needs more work.
The last part of your post talks about user experience...which is quite funny. Do you even know what that means? How about not waiting for your browser to actually load the whole page before you can start scrolling? How about scrolling inbetween desktops/apps pages without the feeling that you're watching a break dance competition?
Also, guys, stop throwing around terms like fanboy and idiot. In order to do that you should own both devices (iphone and N900), and I bet 99.9% of the users on this forum do not, seeing how they have no idea what's even possible on the iphone. I stand by my opinion though. The SNES emulator totally makes the N900 worth it!!!!! Maemo forever!!!!
