Apart from flashing both OS and eMMC, try connecting N900 to your computer via USB cable. What happens then? It should start charging battery, obviously, but also mount internal and MicroSD memories as removable drives in your computer.

The only difference is the little USB logo in the top right corner is visible but it still cycles through that the same process I discussed before.

OK, that's odd. If reflashing OS/eMMC doesn't work and device doesn't mount removable drives after attaching USB cable, then I'd go to service centre, unfortunately. :(

Your device is bricked... You should be able to reflash the eMMC and the firmware..Just follow the steps in the wiki and ignore what's happening on the phone...
When you're done with both flashes it should power on.

I had almost the same issue before I returned my phone for reboots but I managed to flash it

When the cycles happen take off the battery to turn off the device... put it back on without turning on the device...
You should then flash it.. when you plug the device to your computer's USB it will turn on and try to turn on and cycle...
However, you should flash it as soon as you plug it in... and keep pressing the u button while plugging it...
Flash the eMMC then the firmware
The phone should restart and turn on

Ok downloading the eMMC file now, as soon as I put the battery in it powers on and goes through this cycle, was this the same experience you had?

On my third N900 picked it up from the Nokia store in Chicago. Its been a week and have not experience a single reboot, third times a charm I hope! I talked to some of the employees there and some of them are already running the update which should be due out late Dec early Jan.

If you get a brick due to unexpected reboots, you can recover without reflashing, as described here:

To prevent bricking due to unexpected reboots, completely and cleanly shut down & power off your system occassionally. More info here:

Jeff on a XP system here, but if I download virtualbox I should be good to go with this method of unbricking without flashing correct?

I sent mine back to newegg.com for replacement.

However, this was what I was doing until I just can't tolerate it anymore:

I just flash the OS not the eMMC. That way I still have my contact, email, few setting on desktop, etc. That way you don't have to do redo everything.

After I set everything to the way I wants it to be, then I just do a backup. I save the Back up on my computer too. After each reflash, I just reinstall the backup. That save a lot of time and frustration.

However, I just can't be reflashing N900 every day since I don't carry my laptop around with me to reflash it. My desktop is XP which won't recognize N900 when it's in the brick mode. My laptop has Vista which recognize N900 in brick mode.

Hope that help few peeps.
