I got the N900 because it is what i have always wanted in a mobile device. I don't talk on the phone much, but I text and surf the internet a lot. I also like the idea of running linux. So naturally the N900 was the device for me.

I guess it's just a bonus that this thing also has the best screen I've seen on a mobile device and has 32GB built-in for all my movies.

This thing rocks!

There's plenty of threads to moan on and set up with complaints about the n900 use one of them. try to stay on topic and let those who are interested in the n900 and what people have bought it for post and read each others motives for it.

i got the N900 because i found myself using the internet more and more on my old phone. i wanted internet, sms, emails and skype was a massive bonus. i'm not and advanced user but this phone is everything i wanted, and i'm not dissapointed, i changed from the iphone 3g I'm bored with apple, for a cool high tech cutting edge technology company you would think they would have changed the design by now. and i'm tired of being dictated to by what i can and cannot do with a phone for which I PAID for..the screen isn't as good on the n900 as it is on the iphone but the N900 is far superior in every other aspect, and i will be sticking with nokia tablets from now on as long as they offer phone functionality

I had an N80 for the last couple years and loved it. Except that it didn't use T-Mobile 3G and it wasn't a true web browsing experience. And I really wanted a full keyboard. The N900 is the phone I've been waiting for (or very close to it). I love Nokia and hate the US carrier restrictions and Apple DRM so the N900 is great for me. Even though I'm not really a tech geek (no offense) and know nothing about Linux. BTW, posting this from my N900 at the airport on T-Mo 3G.

I wanted to carry around 1 device for all my needs.

More storage capacity than any phone on the market

Integrated GPS

Decent Digital Camera

QWERTY Keypad and Touchscreen.

Had everything I felt my nokia n95 was lacking...

I got it because of the relatively open linux software stack and the nice hardware it runs on Or, as you might say, three reasons: linux, linux and linux!

It did help that I was able to get a substantial discount via voucher codes on the nokia uk shop site.

All in one device. N900's built in storage was a key draw- that as well as the codec support and hope for great sound- which turned out a big yes!
