hello all,

i have just come across my first problem on the n900. i cannot install fennec. i think it may be a problem with xulrunner. in the terminal it says that errors were encountered while processing xulrunner.

i think i have an old version of xulrunner which it tries to update but fails.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

I had the same problem as you have.
The problem seems to be .icon-theme.cache. I just renamed it to .icon-theme.cachebak and it worked.
It is just a cache file so I think you can just delete it.

1. Install rootsh
2. Open X Treminal
3. Run command "sudo gainroot"
4. Run command "rm /usr/share/icons/hicolor/.icon-theme.cache"

That is pretty much it step by step. All commands without the "".

Hi,

I had a fennec nightly build working fine, until i updated it to RC1 today. Once I click the icon, it seems to be starting but then crashes down. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it along with xulrunner, but to no success.

I installed rootsh, but the cache file you suggest to be removed by going root, does not exist on the device. What to do?

How do you get to see what the terminal says during the installation? Sorry for such noob questions, but I'm relatively new to Maemo, and not that experienced in other linuxes for that matter.

Thanks for helping out.

Once the newest version of fennec came out (after the release candidate I posted about), Firefox is now working again. It's just that the startup and some operations are really sluggish. Can't figure out what causes it. AdblockPlus? Weave?

I'm hopeful that the newest Maemo firmware update I just ran will fix this.

I have been using only Firefox for ages on my PC and love it. So far the results on the N900 are less impressive. The Maemo browser pretty much outperforms fennec in every sector imaginable, be it without add-ons.

Things will get better, I'm sure.
