Don't think so and haven't seen anything like that. The closest you can get to having just the controller is to use a Bluetooth dog tag w/o attaching the headset. Then you'd need to worry how to route the audio to a different headset/speakers...

Thanks... I saw the Jabra ones but I wonder where the audio gets routed if I plug the earphones to the N900 instead of to the dog tag... The Bluetooth dog tag or the N900 audio output?

Hmm, interesting... Just tried it with a regular stereo headset, which shouldn't be any different from a bluetooth dog tag (A2DP/AVRCP). The good thing is that when Nokia's wired headphones get connected, the audio switches from bluetooth to wired and most of the control buttons from the BT headset still work! The bad news is that pause button for some reason pauses the progress bar in the media player, but not the actual playback... So, only prev/next work for me.

Thanks for trying it out, I don't have a bluetooth headset with me and that is exactly what I wanted to know, if I could control the N900 playback remotely while using the standard audio output. The prev/next is fine with me

I have tried with a dogtag controller (X2 N88) and a standard headset (not the bundled Nokia one), and everything works as it should
- by default the audio goes to BT headset
- when plugging in wired headset, sound goes there, no sound from BT headset
- when unplugging, back to BT

The buttons work fine at all time, except as mentioned the "pause" one. However it works after the first time I pause/unpause, it only bugs on the first try

Anyway that's great, could not get it to work this way with my phone old. But when will we be able to choose which profile to pair (ie. only AVRCP not AD2P)? I never want sound from the headset (there is any plugged in). Or is this not possible with BT?

Another way would be for N900 to suppost headsets with remote control:
