It is. I felt like a schmuck when I was going to send that picture to a friend of mine a few minutes ago, and realized that I was on the home WiFi at the time.
Then, I got slightly annoyed, as I'm supposed to be at 50Mb per second (I'm a lucky Cox customer who happens to live in the area where they're beta testing these speeds in Scottsdale AZ).
So yes. You cannot measure 3G on WiFi. No matter what the smart kids tell you. Don't believe them.

I spoke with Tier 3 Tech support today and they told me the same thing... No upgrade in place yet... Also told me that when it happens I wouldn't need to make any change on the N900 (he mentioned he was familiar with the device)
