Mystic I didn't post that ad. Farmatito did.

I've heard the browser argument before.. not sure it was actually a Nokia rep.. but in any case - don't care if it is.. *I* don't like browser apps. I prefer real apps that don't have to go through a browser to function.. and I don't like flash for anything except embedded video.

These are personal opinions.

And trust me.. by now.. I know your complaints. But calling everyone with a differing opinion of yours a fan boy doesn't help your argument.

i dont call everyone a fanboy that has a differnt opinion- only the ones that go off at people that have gripes with a device and fell the need to back up a corporation under any circumstance..

i obviously got you confused, and i understand your point completly its nice to have loads of apps.

point is this was marketed as a phone. so anyone that has a gripe about it not up to the level competitors have, have a right to post a grievance.

remeber guys that that its good for the community if more buyers buy this device. more owners more apps made , more improvements, more pressure for bug fixes and enhancements.

if nokia wanted to market as a mini computeer/internet tablet.

and to be honest its an internet tablet first(going by quailty of function)

they should have put

internet tablet
linux os
gsm functionality.

but mainstream buyers arnt gonna realise this is a phone with that truthfull add are they therefore not buy it.

...wait wait, I thought the N900 was a portable media player, not a phone or Internet Tablet!

Like it or not, just about everyone outside of these forums does and will continue to think of the N900 as a phone with added (and in some cases kickass) features, not a computer with phone capabilities.
They can go ahead and think whatever they want. But I bought the N900 because of its computer abilities not its phone abilities. If I wanted the later rather than the former I would've gone with an Android device. Likewise the improvements towards the N900 I would like to see are more computer related than phone related (MMS for example).

To everyone who says The N900 isn't a phone, its an Internet Tablet, and uses that as an excuse when people complain about the lack of a robust phone application, please stop saying that.

On Nokia's own website (on the product page under sales) they call it a phone you can also find it when you click the "search for phones link".

So yes, it was advertised as a phone, I expect the phone application to be as robust as a premium phone, the way they advertise it is very misleading in that regard.

In short, the point of this post is to say stop using excuses to justify the N900 as a device it should be more than.

What, exactly is a "robust" phone application?

It's already more than any device I've tried previously, and at my job we get a huge cycle of devices in (G1, DROID, MyTouch, etc.)

Lazar.. I'm sure you felt the need to get that off your chest... but there have literally been dozens or so threads exactly like this one, or of the reverse "The N900 is NOT a phone"....

It's all perspective - and no real point, sorry to say.
