Me too... I think you will like it better even after just the first update. Hopefully soon.

Satisfied with the phone's potential.
Somewhat satisfied with the community.
Not satisfied with Nokia's handling the firmware updates.

I'm guessing this is getting boring, but wich manufacturer has sold a perfect device with the first firmware? And if all failed, wich of them managed to get it perfect within one month? Why does everyone expect Nokia to be different?

what manufacturere has sold a perfect device..

erm

NINTENDO ALLWAYS REALESES PERFECT PRODUCTS.

it can be done its just that phone companys are in a bigger market and fighting to get things out at right times. all can be as bad as each other- but the iphone was never unstable, samsungs older nokias arnt wernt unstable- yep many need the odd f/w update- but not to the n900's extent. I have had alot of archos's and they were allways like this.

but i can handle the bugs on a media player/internet tablet- not a phone tho..i need that on all the time with good battery.

nokia rushed to get it in b4 crimbo. and it wasnt finished

same here. it's like not minding going out with a girl who's issues you're aware of because you know what the score is. having a girlfriend you think is perfect and turns out to be a nut-job is bad though.

oh and anyone who said 'utter crap' either didn't know what they were buying, didn't read the manual, or is a technodunce. i've had so much fun playing with this thing, even if the battery drain is annoying me.

I just voted "no complaints" - but unfortunately without really thinking what I was doing.

If I'd considered it a little, I do have "niggles"..

the default partitioning scheme isn't to my taste.

it is irksome that some of the firmware components are closed

I haven't yet found a way of enlarging the tiny font in app manager

Why Oh Why isn't there as full as possible a set of working installable kernel modules for the provided kernel?
...

As you can see, the niggles are small

On the other hand, I'm what you might call hugely satisfied with the device at this point.

If there'd been a more positive option than "no complaints" (why isn't there?!) I'm sure I'd have gone with that..

Not because I think it's perfect in terms of feature completeness or even the usability of the available features, but because it's Linux, because it is a usable UMPC (if I'd bought it expecting a whizzbang phone I'd be upset now!) and because of the approach Nokia have taken (epitomised by rootsh) not to try and lock "the hood" in order to stop you getting under it.

I only wish Nokia followed the logic through and behaved just a bit more like normal releasers of Linux distros. If they are surprised at the popularity of the device now, they might be amazed at what that would bring them!

I found it hard to decide between no complaints and minor niggles ... eventually I went for minor niggles, as there are a couple of things that I would like to see fixed/improved ... BUT ... I don't actually have any complaints, as I knew about the big things I wanted improving before I bought the phone (phone!) and I'm confident that the community and nokia will work away and improve my current minor niggles ...

VERY Minor niggles: The touchscreen could be more responsive, there is a strange bug with the camera that shows an error message sometimes, Ovi store not ready. Other than that this phone is truly a computer in my hands.
