Wouldn't it be cool to have a XDM/GDM/...-variant running on the tablet? It would serve two purposes:

From the beginning I thought it would be nice if my 770 could handle multiple users; I share my desktop-PC and would like to share the 770 as well, but with all my personal settings on it its not possible.

Also, after having tried multiple remote desktop variantions (aim: forward 770s desktop to a desktop PC and use mouse and keyboard as input devices there), I found nothing is as simple and straightforward as the XDM-solutions I'm used to between 2 or more desktop machines.

I don't know if Maemo could handle multiple users at all or if /home/user/ is hardcoded in applications. Also I assume that a display manager could not be integrated just as any other application, but maybe I'm too pessimistic.

Could anyone who knows more than me about the Maemo platform comment on this, please? I'd just like to know if it could be possible in theory to install a display manager as a normal application via the application manager. Also, of course, I'm curious if other people would consider this useful, too.

Seem we're the only ones who are interested in this

Also, I didn't even get normal remote X sessions working; maybe the Maemo X server simply cannot handle such things at all.
