The title pretty much sums up my problem.

I used the instructions from here to re-flash my N900:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware#Windows

And now as the N900 starts (takes a really long time) it does not ask for the SIM-card PIN code and as it is started it just shows a SIM-card icon with a red line over it near the battery icon.

SIM-card is fine as it works on my N95.

Any ideas what's wrong?

UPDATE: Tried another SIM-card. Nothing. Also PC-Suite is not recognizing the phone either. I even tried flashing the eMMC but it didn't make any difference. The small lights in the bottom of the screen just blink for about 45 seconds and then after the boot video the phone start as if no SIM-card is there.

Well, I've tried at leads five times already (with and with out the sim- card) and no luck.

I'm 99.9 % sure I have the correct .bin- files so I've already accepted the fact that this phone is a goner. I think I will return it on monday and start waiting for the replacement.

yeah same error here!!

I flashed it to have it exactly the way I got it (software wise), with the UK bin:

RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11.203.2_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM.bin

.. and now it doesn't recognize the SIM card. Any SIM card! The SIM cards are fine, I reflashed, same thing... Is it dead??? Can't believe this....

You need to update to 51-1 before the SIM card will be recognised. If you've got WLAN configured then you should be able to do it via that.

The alternative, as biggzy says, is to flash with the global firmware (nobody seems to know what the difference between the firmware versions is). You could also grab the 51-1 firmware from http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_UK_variant_firmware - this is externally hosted though, so you're taking a chance that it actually is the UK 51-1 firmware.

YES!

Flashed with this Global one:

RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin

and it works fine now. Thanks a lot!
