I think it would be interesting to create a module for controlling the "Media Player" through a "Universal Remote", using the IR sensor, so I could sit and listen to music and raise or lower the volume or change songs or videos .

if you're talking about the media player on the phone, then it won't work. ir port can only be used for sending signals, it's incapable of receiving any data.

That would be a neat trick, since the N900 doesn't have an IR receiver. It can only send IR.

I thought it was an IrDa port, which could send and receive data.
