Hi everyone firstly let me say hi to everyone. i have had my N900 a few days now and its great. how ever either im being thick (nothing unusual) or its not there but i cant create some desktop shortcuts. i want to create a shortcut to the FM transmitter and also to the phone part but i cant work out how to do it. i can create them to some things but these are not on the lists so how do i do it ? Thanks in advance and hope i have a happy stay here.

You can only have a single instance of each shortcut, so check they're not already added to another desktop (or hidden under another shortcut or widget).

I am a novice also. In one of the four desktops press the top right of the screen and a cogged wheel flashes up.

Press the cogged wheel with finger and a toolbar will appear at the top of the screen.

Press the toolbar.

Press <Add shorcut> and a menu will appear with add shortcut.

Scroll down and choose your shortcut.

The chose shortcut will appear on screen. You can drag it to where you want (avoid touching the 'X') or to another desktop.

Then press <Done>

cheers for that guys i understand all that but how can you create shortcuts to things that are not on the list of create shortcut ? i want to create a shortcut to the FM transmitter but cant find it any where maybe becuase its in a sub menu ?

Theres an app called Simple FMTX desktop widget that puts an on/off button plus a shortcut to the transmitter on the desktop

No, the FM radio should be in the list of shortcuts, unless you already have it visible elsewhere on your desktops. You can only have it once.

Of course, that assumes you have already installed the fm radio app from extras?

thanks andrew that works great :-) cheers too kathy but i defo could not find it on the phone :-( also is there any way to changing the size or the logo on a shortcut ? my text message one is small and i would like it the same size as say a website link

Is there a generic way of being able to add shortcuts to the desktop that do not appear in the list of shortcuts (rather than getting apps that provide shortcuts to specific apps)?

I was hoping to add a shortcut for a few things, but at the moment the key one is to my email inbox if possible.

A better help system
Limit download of emails per connection type (don't fetch attachments)
A better use of internal flash
