I have noticed the following bug after updating to PR1.1:

After placing a call using Skype or SIP I can't redial again using the original method (Skype or SIP even though their icons are present) from inside the call log. If I initiate a redial the call can only placed via regular cellular line and not Skype or SIP. I have to go into contacts and choose call type in order to use VOIP line!
This wasn't an issue before the latest update.

if i redial a sip call ... it works fine for me
problem is that if you want to place a call from the call log, you cannot change the type of call
eg. you take a gsm call and you want to dial the number using the sip ... you cannot!!! and it's stupid
ok ... if you have the contact .. and you have the sip info ... you can
but if there is no contact, you cannot

hope this gets fixed soon, cause it's quite annoying
want to call back a cell # using sip ... you need to write down the #... and to input it in the dial pad

you cannot even copy the # to do a copy/paste !!!

even the stone-age nokias were able to copy-paste #

Do you have the latest firmware? Because if so, open the call log, and choose to view a particular number. Then click on the icon/photo. It should offer offer you all the call and text options available for that contact. Mine does.

I'm not sure what exactly your problem is, but the change of behavior you see here is a reaction to one of the most irritating bugs in the original firmware:

In the original implementation, tapping on the entry in the call log showed the contact. There was no way to tell if the call was from the contact's mobile phone number, home or office.

No, as far as I can tell from my call log, you see the exact number and can either call or send an SMS. That's what members of this community asked of Nokia.

You can still go to the full contact details and choose to call via, say, SIP or GTalk, by pressing on the entry longer than a second. You'll see a context menu and can either delete the entry or open the details.

i have the latest firmware
in call log (phone .... call log is one with the phone application)
is i press a gsm number; get the option to call or to send and sms (long press gives me the option to delete or to open the vcard)
if i press a sp call i get the option to call (sip call) or to chat

even if the contact has an assocoated sip audio number ... i cannot access it from the call log if there i have a gsm call.

on my n82 ... i have the option to choose the call type from the call log ... should be implemented in n900 too

i added a solution here (#24), please vote for it!

sure ... one needs to know from what number originated the call!!!
but ... you need to have the option to choose how to call back!!!
it's important!!
and if you can somehow find a way to do this with a contact (you go to the contact list a pick whatever you find there), you have to take a pen ans write down the number if this number is not a contact number ... and dial it the way you want in the dial-pad

one needs these options there!! to chose how to call ... to copy the number, all the options on n95 where there for a reason after years of experience (that's why they are leaders, that's why so many iphone users still have a n95 in their pockets!)

quite annoying ... for such an advanced device!

ah... i think now i know what you're talking about:

i have all the people whose calls i missed in my contacts. so doing the long-press thing opens the details and lets me choose between whatever i saved for them: not only different numbers i could try if i want to ring them back, but also the choice between GSM calls and SIP calls for example.

if, however, the number you find in the call log is not one of your contacts, you're lost if the phone initiates a GSM call but you want to call back via SIP. that's right. i didn't find a way to do this when i tried before.

so it pretty much depends on your lifestyle... my phone number isn't public so i couldn't get any calls from people i don't know. if i do, i don't answer because i know they either called the wrong number or want to sell me something.

most people, i think, make or receive more calls from people they don't know or they don't care to add to their contact list

another feature missing: if sip is deactivated ... there is no way to activate it trying to make the call

n82 way ... pick a phone # from the call log list or contacts >> choose the type of call (gsm or sip) >> if sip is disconnected, it asks you if you want to start the sip service ... nice & easy ...

it would be nice if this could be copied by maemo's team

In any case, since the feature worked before, it's a bit of a regression, even though it's a side effect of fixing something else.

By the way, it's a shame the call log doesn't show where someone calls from on the log itself. There's plenty of room to show phone / office / etc. and mobile va. landline.

There's an icon to see how they called, which is odd always looking like a mobile handset for non-VOIP, even for landlines. Odd only because it's always a landline-type handset icon on all the call buttons, even for mobiles :-) What I'm getting at is the icon on the log screen could differentiate.

And by the way, is there any to edit those contact detail names? It's otherwise quite confusing when you have someone with 3 jobs (3 "Phone (Office)") or 2 homes (2 "Phone (Home)").

It seems there a lot of really simple UI stuff that they could do with picking up from Symbian UI designers. Or just users :-)
