Is there a way to lock files/photos so that a password is required to view them?

put them on a card. Remove card when desiring to protect from accidental viewing.

I have been also looking for this.
One option I am considering is password protected zip/tar file!

Schett, could you please elaborate what you mean by "put them on a card"? What is that?

Edit: Do you mean an SD card? If so, that is not ideal... N900 is practically a computer w/ a full linux OS, a nice security mechanism would be a great new feature....

i think by changing the extension you can hide the file..
eg myvideo.avi change to myvideo.xyz
i dont think the phone will be able to read the file anymore thus "hide" it....
havent tried this myself as yet....
