could you explain "pushing the provisioning of a similar smartphone" please. I am getting VERY frustrated with this issue as I keep having to constantly be on 2g and if I ever switch to 3/3.5g i cannot load a webpage or download anything from app manager.

I also use TMO and have their $60 a month plan same as Jef91. 3G works perfectly for me without having to modify any of the settings on the device.
My Access Point name is internet2.voicestream.com and I have a pretty good stable 3/3.5G connection here in Boston.
Tmo have me on their android data plan though - while this was an added service there was no charge with the $59.99 unlimited web, messages and 500 minutes plan. I think you may need this (or similar) service for the data to function correctly.
