could you explain "pushing the provisioning of a similar smartphone" please. I am getting VERY frustrated with this issue as I keep having to constantly be on 2g and if I ever switch to 3/3.5g i cannot load a webpage or download anything from app manager.

Its an automatic OTA settings push... Try calling TMo, tell them you are trying to get your n900 up and running with 3G data, they will get it working for you..... By the way your asking, it sounds like you havent called them yet ;-)

I spent almost half a day trying to figure out the servers and what not, its just easier to call them; 611....

i havent call Tmobile yet but what came up with is when you changing your Internet setting during the connection from whatever you have there to any other settings like etc.tmobile.com, internet2.voicestream.com, internet3.voicestream.com or even wap.voicestream.com(which i believe is oldest one) it works. Not fixing the problem but still keep you always connected until next time when you want to use your phone for tethering and all over again

I also use TMO and have their $60 a month plan same as Jef91. 3G works perfectly for me without having to modify any of the settings on the device.

My Access Point name is internet2.voicestream.com and I have a pretty good stable 3/3.5G connection here in Boston.

Tmo have me on their android data plan though - while this was an added service there was no charge with the $59.99 unlimited web, messages and 500 minutes plan. I think you may need this (or similar) service for the data to function correctly.

The N900 only works with the android data plan for T-mo. I think they use that for all smartphones. What I think the OP is saying is that his edge works fine, but when showing a 3G connection he can't browse the web If he has edge internet and can browse then his plan must be enabled for web with the android plan, but i don't know what would be causing the 3G issue.. I was having some web difficulties, but they seem to have worked themselves out with a few reboots.

this is not true. i have provisioning for windows mobile devices (which will NOT work for an android devices...but will for the iPhone) and it works beautifully with my n900.
