You can do it in Linux with sshfs, which allows you to mount an ssh "share" as a mount anywhere you want. I use it a lot, and it works like a charm (phone still in pocket and put music on it at full wifi speed).
I'm not sure if there's an implementation for windows, but maybe this will give you something to search for.

Nice.

What does the SSH server share exactly? Can you get it to share the large flash partition (ie 30Gb sector)

Step 2: Read this and then try to download that (Red Drive is discontinued, but still available)

Or there is also a commercial solution available (40$)
looking good

SSH shares everything I think, the large 30gb partition and the mmc for sure.

Remote WLAN Access To Root / System Files

for easy file manipulation

this help file assumes you know the risks and how to at least download and install apps from the extra repos..

To get remote access to N900 thru wifi:

1. install the following apps/software

n900 end: (all these apps are in extras repos)

mad developer - this will request password when installing (WRITE DOWN / TAKE NOTE OF PASSWORD !!)
rootsh

for pc end:

winscp http://winscp.net/

2. open winscp and put the WLAN ip address shown in mad developer in the 'host name'

3. user name "root", password "(password created during ssh install)"

4. save > login

5. you should now have access!!

Sudo is not necessary, I'll correct that.

Make sure your router doesn't somehow block the connection.
If nothing works add your phone's and your pc's ip to port forwarding in the router's menu and specify the open ports too!
On my router SSH is defined, I specified that my PC is unlocked for SSH (all WLAN's are as a default). It is still unable to resolve host. I am sure the password is correct, can I change it (to make sure?
Could Windows 7 be blocking it? Or anything else?

Going to try and uninstall and resinstall OpenSSH

Windows 7 has a firewall too so you should turn it off while you test. Then you can add your N900's ip as an exception.

Make sure to add prt forwarding for your N900's ip on port 22(port in the tutorial I linked yo to.
Here's an examle tutorial for forwarding: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...BitTornado.htm

As for reseting/changing the password on OpenSSH - there should be a way via xterminal.

you don't have an SSH problem, you have a DNS problem. try the N900's ip instead of it's hostname.

edit:
and you don't need to forward any ports when you're trying to access machines on the same network. that's only needed if you want to have SSH access to your local network from outside (aka from the WAN connection).

ahhhh I was using the IP address ( ie using whatsmyip.com) instead of the IP address on my router (prob not the most techincal of terminology Im using here!). v cool, thanks for the help

edit - v nice, you can edit the system files easily - v dangerous but good.

Then we should try and use what twaelti suggested:
http://hartvig.de/2008/mounting-your...osoft-windows/

Not everybody wants full access anyway
