Hi guys,

I've looked through extras, test and devel but I can't find any app to open 7Zip files.

I've seen an app mentioned on the forums (P7Zip I think) but couldn't find it anywhere.

I'm far too lazy to unzip the files on my computer.

Thanks

It is confusing. p7zip is the name of the app. It is a command line program. However, don't ask why, the name of the command is 7za.

I wrote a program, also a command line program, that makes use of p7zip. It is called 7Squeeze. I may write a GUI for it in the future. In fact, I have a GUI for it in Windows. I just have to find the time to do one (a better one) for Maemo (and Linux in general).

Any way, you can read about the command line version here:

http://temporaryland.wordpress.com/2...een-published/

The program consists of two parts that you can gethere:

http://sites.google.com/site/rmcorrespond/7usqz

The Windows version is here:

http://sites.google.com/site/rmcorre..._1_0b1_exe.zip

It is UGLY, but it works:

that's great, however I can't install the .deb nor find it in the repositries. apt and dkpg don't work.

and I did search the forums, that thread you linked to is what I was on about in my first post.

[code
Nokia-N900-51-1:~# apt-get install p7zip
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Suggested packages:
p7zip-full
The following NEW packages will be installed:
p7zip
[/code]

You can do this with devel repo enabled. It seems you can also use p7zip-full

Thanks for this, it worked. Bit weird how I couldn't find it in the app-manager though.

App manager doesn't show most command line apps, so it's not surprising.

It would be great if we see an official 7-Zip port for Maemo 5.
