@schnebeck Yes, the icons seems to be broken. Could you point me to a place where I can download them, please?

Ok, I download Navit from svn and compiled myself to get the problematic png files and uploaded then:

The gui is from extras-testing 'navit-gui-gtk'.

The program seems very unstable trying to enter, destination causes it to close. .Also the destination database for uk map does not have many entries.

I have not found how to set voice to english yet.

I'm back to my self-compiled version. navit from testings runs 5min at its best before crashing, while the self compiled version is rock stable with gui-gtk and now also quite stable when using gui-internal.

Okay. Now I'm getting confused. So what's the best method to install/setup right now?

If someone have it working perfectly, can the files/steps be provided?
(Other than the actual map download which I can do myself. hehe)
