Well - I was just noticing that you had a very hard time following quite simple instructions, were rude to the people who were trying help you, but its this comment that gets me:
I added (maemo extras-devel) and it found lots of updates including rootsh so I updated :
So you opened the dev repository, saw some new DEV versions and updated your production apps to dev apps. Say no more.

Because T-Mobile block iplayer!
As it states here:

only 3 UK & Vodafone Contract customers can access iplayer in the UK via 3G

If it's really saying "iplayer not found", then you have a simple typo problem. You're typing "iplayer <rest_of_command>" when you should be typing "iplayer-dl <rest_of_command>".
