Are there any plans for DSP accelerated HTML5 video tag support in Web Runtime? Because that would be really sweet and a *much* better alternative to flash from a performance/overhead perspective.

Are there any plans offer WebGL or similar API to access GPU acceleration?

Thanks for all the info so far, I think it will shape up to be a very interesting platform.

I think he's referring to the fact that developers will likely reuse one of a few different existing javascript toolkits, and that disk/memory overhead could be reduced if you had the option to use a shared local jquery, yui, mootools, etc.. toolkit. In the deb/apt sense, WRT apps/widgets could have dependencies on packages for one of those toolkit versions.

Reusable JS library for widgets could be nice especially if this meant inheriting the user-selected maemo theme/colors.

I would like to see any device specific functionality, like access to accelerometer, gps, vibration, etc... supplied separately from any Maemo specific UI JS toolkit however.

But, I would prefer if it would be possible to have a WRT app themed correctly purely through CSS classes/selectors, so that it could be more easily compatible with existing javascript toolkits.

Yes, this is the plan. To be consistent with the Qt strategy (since this Web runtime sits on top of it) and also in good neighborhood with W3C, Javascript, etc.
