I want to capture Voice off my Soundcard and stream it so That I can listen to it on my N900 over the Internet.

What protocol would work with the Internet Radio Player on the N900 or some other Player on the N900?

I suppose it will support it. It is a internet radio software after all.

Internet Radio runs on many different Protocols depending on the encoding. Do you know what the client uses on the N900? Does the N900 listen to shoutcast servers?

Shoutcast uses a proprietary protocol(called icy), but it does work on the N900. I'm working on setting up a shoutcast server to capture my SC input, thanx! I want to capture DirecTV and listen to it over the Internet on my N900 when I'm traveling.

Shoutcast streams fine on the N900 and re-sends over the FM transmitter fine as well. Not sure about capturing the broadcast except using the 3.5mm jack.

Hey Pete,

This might be a stupid question but I'm really new to the N900. How did you get shoutcast to stream to the N900? I want some ambient/trance/chillout stations to stream through the media player. Is that possible?

Thanks,

Ankur

Never mind! Just realized that going to shoutcast.com on the web browser works fine!

I like to listen to Fox Business Network. So I installed a Shoutcast server on my computer at home. It is monitoring Fox Business from my DirecTV receiver. Before I leave the house I just fire up the Shoutcast server and click on the Link I made in the Internet Radio part of the Medai Player! Sweet. Even works on ATT GPRS. I have the encoding at 12 Kbps. I probably could do 8 Kbps. Voice encoding doesn't require much to get the buffering smooth.
