I had the same problem here. After some updates yesterday all my IM worked except MSN. MSN via Pidgin was ok but not via Conversations. Just a few minutes ago I updated my N900 via the console and it updated a few files it didn't update via the Application Manager (strange but true).

It seems that apt-get upgrade (preceded by a apt-get update) did the trick. Now MSN works again in Conversations

Any of yall tried using jabber with msn transports? Seems to use alot less battery than haze, amsn and pidgin.

This is the How-To install the MSN-Protocoll (Microsoft Live Messenger) on your Nokia N900.

First you have to add a new repository. It's called maemo-Testing. Please disable it after you've installed MSN, because there could be software, that isn't finished, yet.
You add a new repository like I've shown in the video. Here is the address and everything else you must fill in:
Catalog name: Maemo Extras Testing
Internet address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free
Please fill everything in like it's written above, and make sure you haven't any spelling mistakes..
Press save.
Now the program manager will update. Give it some time. You need a internet connection for that.
Then press Download in the program manager.
Search for "Pidgin protocols plugin for Conversations and Contatcs". Please install only that, because this uses the Haze plugin which is the most stable one.
After installing you can add a new account, and you can now choose "MSN (Haze)".

Congratulations for installing MSN on your N900!
Now you can help anyone who's asking how to install MSN on the N900.

Please don't forget to disable the Maemo Testing repository after the completed install.

Edit: You can also install the "MSN (pecan) protocol plug-in", this will add MSN only, and it's working very well, too.

Maybe not the right place, but want to use my German Yahoo messenger and can't get it to connect.

Is there anybody out here from Germany that can help me if I have the account settings right??

I used Pidgin before and I know that I had to use the German Yahoo .de iso the .com

I've been using these plugin for yahoo and msn and they work great (including video chat via msg) but there is an issue with MSN contact list. Even if I delete contacts from my contact list, they start showing up whenever I log off and login again.

Anybody has any idea how to fix this issue ?

how do you make video chat with msn?

u cannot start a video chat. Other person has to start a video call and then your phone will ring just like a regular voice call and when you answer it, your front camera will automatically start.

Is there the same thing on yahoo? Someone tried to video call me on yahoo but was unable to so I assumed there was no video calling (yet on N900).

and which plugin are you using? (because here with msn (haze) it doesn't work...)
