http error 400 is not good.
you can try a few of the other IPs, but it could also be that "downloads.maemo.nokia.com" is just not accessible from brazil - the N900 isn't sold there officially, if i remember correctly?

could you please execute "nslookup downloads.maemo.nokia.com" in a command prompt on your desktop computer?
in MS-DOS

to change your DNS, you have to edit "/etc/resolv.conf"

Code:
cat /etc/resolv.conf
shows you it's current content, there should be exactly one line = "nameserver 127.0.0.1"
this is the default setting.

to use a different nameserver, you can again use echo in an xterm as root:
Code:
echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf

That's probably because akamai are doing name-based virtual hosting.

No, this shouldn't be done on the N900. You set the DNS servers in the Advanced configuration dialogue of the Internet Connection settings (Settings, Internet Connections, Connections, Edit, Next, Next,..., Advanced, IP Addresses). resolv.conf should always point to 127.0.0.1

ok, my modem is now as follows:
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 320
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 1024
LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Default Gateway: ppp0
Primary DNS Server: 201.10.120.2
Secondary DNS Server: 201.10.128.2

and N900 is IP and DNS automatic.

if you want to try it using google's DNS servers, change the settings on the N900 as Rob1n suggested.

instead of automatic DNS enter "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4" as DNS. those are the IPs of google's dns servers

you could also enter those IPs into your modem as default DNS servers, but keep in mind that your whole network uses them if you do that.

hey, the problem is even in DNS!

I changed the Google DNS on the N900 and nothing happened, but ...

when tested with OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 208.67.222.220 he was able to access the repositories of Nokia and send SMS via Webtext.

... now I just need to resolve the MaStory, but is another problem that I will search now.

Thank you very much, friend! You were persistent!

Hello,
I am having the exact same problem as Maya. If I use the GPRS connection everything works fine but with my home WLAN I cannot install apps from the Ovi Store etc. I tried the OpenDNS and Google DNS servers listed above but it didn't help. Any ideas?

Can you use anything with the WLAN at home (browser, repositories, etc)?
