*Checklist were great for shoppinglists and to-do lists
*In my buisness I gave each new project a new node (and added checklists, notes and sketches in that node)
*I also manged to paint quite nice pictures there. The basic touchsensitivity was good enough to make simple shades and some creative stuff.

For me it was a really useful app.. Anyone else used it for any good?

The last few updates on it really shaped it up I remember and with a few extra features it really was a great sketchpad app.

And would it be easy for a developer to port it over to Maemo5 now ?

Do we have anything like it at the moment for Maemo 5?
Important: Starting from version 1.2, MaePad will not be provided in Maemo Extras until bug 9070 is fixed in the autobuilder. You can get up-to-date .debs on the MaePad homepage.

MaePad is now available:

Thank you very much!

Its actually not that bad at all.. the functions are all there. And for me it does launch from the menu..

I will see if I can find a developer to tweak some stuff. And I will recreate some of those missing icons and graphics. Lovely little project

I've just tried to Fremantleize the UI a bit, and have made some progress. I've also fixed the crasher at the beginning that I had. It would be very helpful if you could provide me with all the toolbar icons - please note that there are different icons based on which mode you are in (that is: Rich text, Checklist and Sketch).

I've finished the first-start "wizard" and the "Create new node" dialog so far. If you have the time, white icons for the "Create new node" dialog would also be nice

I just installed all the note apps in Extras and was disappointed to not find something like this. Thanks for taking this project up.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Ok, I did a quick mockup and some icons just now. I went with this all whitelines theme. I just moved in the "add new node" buttons in the top of the screenshot there.

I made all these icons in 48px. However I made them all in vectors so I can scale them to whatever suits best.

Here are zip with each in 48px pngs (transparent bgs so you might not see them ):

Link to 100% scale png screenshot:

They all could use some tweaking and I am not sure the lines are thick enough on the device (have not look on there). But I made a good project file with them so I can easily adjust them and add more etc... I am not sure of the look of some at all. But this is a start...

I really hope we can get this app going

Now I need som sleep however...

They look nice. My only criticism would be that (presumably) there are english words included in the top ones that won't be subject to localization. It doesn't affect me and i'm not sure how big of an issue it is, but i thought i'd point it out.

Yes, that is only a UI "mockup" the text it self is in the code and will be in the language that is supported.. It is only the icon in those buttosn that will be in use..

It will probably be a good idea to get rid of the "maemo" in the name as I understand that is now allowed. Any other name suggestiosn?

PadMae.

Not because I'm a star wars fan or anything, but it partly reflects the old name, removes the Maemo, has 'ae' in its name and is short.
