Its running Windows CE 6, which is horrible since there will be a total lack of applications for it. I suppose you could say the same about the iPhone, but at least Apple can deliver solid 1st party apps.

Clarification:

There is a difference between Windows Mobile 6, and Windows CE 6. Its an embedded OS and there really isn't anything for it other than what manufacturers install @ launch. I think Meizu's focus is on media playback since thats what they seem to be popular for. Its definitely not an iPhone killer, nor is the iPhone an N800 killer (unless we see some 3rd party apps like Skype pop up).

I want to like it, but if I do end up getting a "super phone" to replace my Blackberry Pearl it will definitely be an iPhone. Spin it how you want, but when it comes to clean 1st party applications and integration nobody comes close to Apple.

I won't be purchasing it at launch, I will be waiting for updates on my N800. Skype, a good Nokia integrated email client, VGA divx support in mplayer etc... Those would keep the N800 preferable to me =)

If I ever get another smartphone, it'll be the Neo1973.

Well, frankly, it looks like another bad imitation but a china company. I really don't see it as a threat though. That said, i never found iphone a big deal too. Apple were too nazi about it and ended up killin' it. Like no third party sotware? What kinda crap is that?

But there might still be salvage if the meizu will run linux and is fully open. I wouldn't really trust a china company for long germ good support you know

Can we trust anyone for long term good support? Nokia, for example?

Support sucks by alot of companies these days...

Compaq = dead laptop after 14 months because the backlight died...
Creative Zen Micro = 14 months old internal battery dies and messes up the machine
Nokia Ngage = had to send it in, got it back but broken again a week later....

Who can you trust? Or better yet... How about factoring in extended service plans to everything you purchase because alot of devices fail to work or have issues just outside of the warranty period... how interesting lol
