It'd be kinda cool if someone with a wellvisited blog or similar would try to purchase one of these drm encumbered files to discover they don't work.

Not just to expose Nokia/Ovi snafu, but also to highlight the evils of drm.

Lol, that's what I would define as EPIC PHAIL!

Supposedly a completely new, built-from-scratch, Ovi Store is supposed to be launched this year, probably along with Symbian^3 and 4 devices; and Maemo 6 is supposed to be DRM compatible.

Speaking purely as an end user, patience wears thin... Nokia better steps up in their act this year.

Isn't it the content provider / developer who chooses the devices on which the app/item/whatever shows up?
I mean, Ovi is a mess yes, but it's the developer who makes the mistake in the first place by choosing N900 as a compatible device.
Of course Nokia could start doing what Apple does and check everything, but personally I would kind of hate it.

Meh... I'm not interested in any DRM content anyway

Just to let you know:

Nokia reacted to the complaint i filed via "report issue": They added two more DRM-protected files. You can now buy a €14,99 audio book from the store that will not play. Get it while it's hot!

There are sitting Nokia employes at OVI that sold rubber boots the past 20 years, am I right?

NOKIA: What about in-service training?

This is exactly the reason why I've never bought DRM'd material & will continue in that manner.
