Hi all. Noob here. Just installed Maemo Mapper and ordered a cheap GPS receiver to go with it. Problem: after I load Maemo Mapper and get a map on the screen if I just touch the screen anywhere, the application quits. It didn't do this at first but soon started and now I can't figure out how to fix it. I have deleted and reinstalled the program to no avail.

Also, every tuneme I start the program I fet an erroe message "failed to open or create database; file is encrypted or is not a database." What''s up with that? TIA.

In the Settings, check the "POI" tab and make sure that the POI db is set to a file to which you have write privileges (and has free space). Since you just installed Maemo Mapper for the first time, it's not likely to be a problem with trying to read an older version of the POI database.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I did install Maemo Mapper a couple of times and uninstalled it so the POI tab might be seeing a previous database in my document folder. I can't find any such file to delete. Is it an invisible file? I still have the problem of the program shutting down as soon as I touch a map on the screen. Is this related to the POI issue? TIA.

Problem solved. I moved the "Maps" folder from the "Documents" folder to the internal memory card. Now the app works OK.
