Hei Alll
just registered on this forum and trying to find more info especially on the synch issue. Having started with Linux when Linus still was a grad student in Helsinki I moved got one of the very first OpenMoko Freerunner phones. Unfortunately, this OpenSource project did not really succeed.(the FR is now running Android - but its not really dependable, thats the reason for the N900).
So here we are; There is one issue that I really want to have solved: I want to use the calendar on my laptop using KDEPIM Kaddressbook) AND the one on the phone, so I need to have a proper sync procedure, allowing modifications on both sides. Is there a dependable procedure available? perhaps one that even includes google calendar? (I have set up sync kdepim with google calendar)..

Looking forward to a phone that really can be used as such and even runs vi on debian.

Greetings

Tredlie

Now then. N900 arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it not being an iphone.
I have an N770 lying around not doing much these days as without the phone bit, it only served a few purposes. So with the phone bit, N900 looks awesome.

So, looking forward to a bit of tinkering with the N900 - I'm a programmer from a windoze vb/C# background, but mostly use php these days, and use Eclipse PDT for that.
I've been looking around the forums and site for pointers as to the best way to start developing for the N900, but all the information is a bit garbled. I appreciate there are many different opinions, but I guess we're suffering from the adaptability and power of the device - there are just too many options!
Choices choices.
1) Language: C would be too low level for me I think, and my C++ is rusty. Like the look of Python, I might try that.
2) UI dev. I know little of Tk, GTk and Qt, so no idea which way to turn on that aspect. Used to an easy UI editor in Visual Studio, or constructing CSS from PSDs for the web.

I'll keep you updated as to progress. Now where was that list of must have N900 apps....

Alright. Got N900 yesterday after having a while of indescion... after staying up most of the night configuring and getting apps on it and playing around with the features (and failing to get fMMS to work!) I think this is finally the device I've been waiting for Not perfect, but then what would be? Plus that give pleanty of scope for development! lol. Good to see such an excellent developer community here - once I've sussed out how to reflash it in case anything goes wrong I'll certainly be testing apps in the devel area...
