Hello friends,

Does anyone know how to access the cellular Field Test Mode on the n900? I was reading this thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=468290) which stated:

Go into field test mode by dialing *3001#12345#* from the phone app keypad then pressing call, then go to GSM Cell Environment.

But I cannot get the above to work, nothing seems to happen when I enter *3001#12345#* Or perhaps I am not sure where to look?

Please advise, thank you.

*#06# is a different kind of code, specified by 3GPP TS 22.030 http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/html-info/22030.htm

*#06# doesn't send a query to the operator and it's supported since software update PR1.1.

The code we are talking about here though are USSD codes, which don't work yet on the N900.
USSD codes are commonly used by carriers to display your account balance.
There is a widget from Extras-testing repository called ussd-widget that will let you send USSD codes and display the result!

Ow, iirc my 3210 also had something like a field test mode and I could enable it via a kind of 'code' mail_e36 mentioned. Therefore I tought it was no ussd code.

It is the Field Test Mode that I am looking for, it seems almost every other smartphone has this functionality.

Which particular functions do you need? Have you tried Netmon from extras-devel?

I have tried Netmon from the extras-devel, but it doesn't provide information on neighboring cells, just the current one.

I`m looking for something like Nokia FDT application for symbian, on n900. FDT 1.xx section is the most wanted option , cipher status to mention more specifically
