Ok I know this is a HUGE stretch, but is there any way that one might be able to pass simple controls (pause/play, forward/back) to the Media Player over USB, and/or route audio over USB?

I would love to be able to replace the iPod I have stashed in my car. Currently Apple's connector on the iPod allow other devices to control playback and route audio out of that connector. Such a capability on the N900 would allow me to integrate the device with the steering wheel controls on my car, and allow a very easy/quick means for me to hop in the car, connect the N900, and start listenning (and controlling) tunes

PS. My car does NOT have bluetooth, and I'm against using those bluetooth add-ons (parrot,etc), unless anyone knows of one that would integrate with my EXISTING steering wheel controls and not try and replace them with another set of buttons that would have to be mounted on the dash..
