You can also check a little log file in /tmp/mstatus-ver (or something similar) and see if it uses the right key.
Another thing, remember that the key (Dekstop / Web Key) must be inserted without any trailing characters.

Yes, looks good.
I'm just trying to get to know what fails, I'm starting thinking that is something related with ping.fm directly (and my API key maybe).
I will let you know when I will know a little bit more.

If the ping.fm thingy doesnt work cant you just add Twitter alone?

Yes I can , but this is not the reason why this applet was born.
I think I'll wait another week for a response from the ping.fm team after I will start to think of what to do with this app.
