Hi to all the comunity. 1st thing i would love to say is that you guys are awesome and the n900 is the best device ever IMHO. I respect all the opinions about it (good and bad) but there is no denying that this thing is a raw powerfull beast . Now to my little problem. For some reason i have noticed during the last week that whenever i send an SMS from my n900 to my wife's motorola cliq she receives the SMS as a MMS (it says my name and phone number as an email address, example: 123456789@tmomail.com) and when she tries to reply to it, i do not receive anything ( since the n900 does not work with MMS - or so i understood ???). For her to be able to answer back to me she has to create a new sms instead of replying to the one i just sent. I am a complete NOOB when it comes to any pda/smarthphone/pocket computer ( but i am learning everyday thanks to all of you) and i have read every post on these forums searching for a clue to this issue but i am unable to find an answer. i have service with Tmobile USA and have the $10.00 internet plan on my phone and it works ok. Please let me know what other info i can provide to you to find out what i am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for any help or info on this matter and congratulations on making this community one of the best on the web. thanks again and have a wonderful night.

Thanks for the quicke reply and the idea . I just checked her phone and interestingly she is the only one of all of my contacts that has that issue with my phone. I sent a text to my sister and she send me one back with no problem, then i send one from my wife's phone to my sister's and she replied again with no problem. Now i am able to send and receive text to my wife's phone with no problem and she is able to receive my texts but when she wants to reply to it, it becomes and MMS (because the header of my sms has my name and my phone # as an email: 1234567890@tmomail.com). Any idea what i or her might be doing wrong?. Her phone is a Motorola Cliq (android 1.5) with tmobile service. Thanks again por the help guys. Much appreciatted.

To me this sounds like some kind of SIM provisioing error, but just to rule other things out I have some questions:

1. Do you have any MMS apps installed on you N900?
2. Have you checked the contents of the contact in you phone book?
3. Have you cleared any SMS history in use in both devices (I'd clear one then test then clear the other)?
4. Are there any special charaters in the SMS that?

Ok let's see:

1.- nope
2.- i did that twice. i erased myself from her phone and then added my info back into it.
3.- i already did that twice as well after i did step # 2.
4.- sometimes i send smiley faces but the last few times i just send text saying HI that is all and still it shows up my names and my phone # like this: 1234567890@tmomail.com.

If this a sim provisioning issue what do you suggest i do? it is really not a big issue in the way that she can reply to me ( she has to leave the text messaging application and create a whole new text so i can get her sms). Thanks for the help and have a wondeful day.

I contacted frals, who's the MMS guru, and he said he had no idea what was going on.

It might be worth checking the connections on your sim card - can you try it in another phone and see what happens to an sms from there?

I'd also check what your wife receives if she gets an sms from someone else on the same network provider. It sounds like something is weird with your wife's phone.

hmmm, is your cell and your wifes on the same account? As you said earlier your sms's work fine to everyones but you wifes (if I understand correctly), so the only thing that I can thnik of is some strange issue related to shared accounts.
As RevdKathy suggested try switching the SIM cards around, if the problem follows the SIM, disappears or sms's only go in one direction then it would suggest TMO SIM provisioning problem.
To me it sounds like your SMS is being converted to MMS by the network somewhere along the way for some reason.
