Let's hope so. I've pretty much given up on using Maemo, I want something completely open so instead of spending time making apps that are useless whenever new firmware is released, developers can contribute to functionality of core apps / the operating system.

Too bad it takes up so much screen space. Why couldn't it have a drop down menu like every other os in the world? Sure it has a nice big screen and all, but without running an app in full screen mode, the actual space available for apps is just about the same size as most other pda's out there. Fluxbox or Xfce work pretty well with mobile devices and don't waste near the screen space.

Agreed.

What kind of drop-down menu? For application launching? For controlling/menu options in an application?
