So you can read from the card then open the stand and can't read it any more. From the moment you close it you can read from it again?

If so, my guess is your stand has been spelled... see your local magician for more help.

you shure it has nothing to do with the USB cable being attached? Does your phone ratle when you shake it?

mhm... the stand is hold in place via a magnet.

if you open the stand the metal-part moves away and changes the magnetic field.

this can cause problems... but i think this magnet is way TOO small ^^

edit: but you could try to open the stand veeeeeeery slow :P

Also make sure that the magnet isn't coming away with the stand.

Actually, if you open back cover then some magnetic switch prevents using of microSD card and it is normal and it looks like intentional design.

You may try to fake it with metal piece or separate magnet but I don't think it has a big sense.

"when the stand is opened you won't be able to use the sd-card!"

I can access the memory card just fine with the stand flipped out. Strange.

maybe his sd-card is sensitve against small changes in magnetic fields around.

@ charlesm: can you try another sd-card?

Pay attention. The memory card gets unmounted when the back cover is removed. The stand should not affect it.

If the back cover is not properly seated it could possibly cause this. Or it could be faulty.

ahhh and so to the solution.

yes my stand is held in by a small magnet which moves with stand. ie it has clearly come away from the back cover!

if i hold the magnet in place against the back cover everything works fine!

i've only had the phone for a couple of weeks so expect others may suffer from this.

i think a little solvent may secure it again.

btw this is not a gripe and i dont want this thread used in that way. I LOVE THIS DEVICE.

Thanks everybody for you assitance.
