HI guys I just updated from the UK 1.1 to Global 1.1.1 and all went well except my backup program can't see my backup, it's definitely in the right place as when I take new backups they are put there but since I scp'd the file back on using the root account I think that may have changed the file permissions. I have tried to change them back to 777 using chmod but it won't work (acts like it works fine but then doesn't work)

It could also be because I have gone from uk firmware to global firmware??? I'm not sure has anybody had this problem or does anybody know how toc hange file permissions to 777 in maemo because chmod seems to be bugged

The two backup locations (/media/mmc1/backups and /home/user/MyDocs/backups) are both on VFAT filesystems, so permissions don't apply.

Looks like you flashed eMMC as well (otherwise why scp backup files in first place?), so the solution that works for me after eMMC flash is creating a dummy backup using the Backup app first, and it will recreate the directories correctly, then scp/copy in mass storage mode the backup back and restore.

ok cool that explains why chmod wasn't working!

cool made a test backup then overwrote it and it restored fine (except my apps didn't automatically install but not a big deal ill do them manually)

Cheers guys

just in case you've overseen it:
open app-manager, click on top bar and there should be an additional button "restore applications".
