I have flashed my tablets a bunch of times. I think that a typical problem of newbies is that they are afraid of flashing, then theirr tablets get screwed up in some way and they tolerate it, assuming that's the way things are, when it's actually intolerable and a flash is needed.

In the case of the N900 I think flashing is particularly important -- and now there are two kinds of flashes, and both are important. Any normal user has installed programs from the dev and testing repositories, and some things done have caused subtle problems only cured by flashing.

In the case of the N800 and N810, I don't find flashing necessary as often as I used to. I think the Diablo environment eventually became pretty stable so it's usually not necessary.

I don't use that many applets. HomeDiskFree, OMWeather, Personal Launcher and Seqretary, but I have never heard of any complaints with any of them. I'll turn all four off and try a full reboot, and probably leave Seqretary and OMweater off for a bit, just to test.

Thanks,

I've had my tablet for just over a year...And I am not new to Linux. In my case, the problem is that I use it so much, everything from reading to notetaking to playing media in the car to web browsing, everything. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the device is rarely out of arms reach over the course of the day...To take it out of the equation for the time flashing and getting everything set back up (especially since a lot of the things I have set up were done when I first got the device or soon thereafter and would have to be relearned) would constitute a major inconvenience for me.

However, if this doesn't work, then I will give a flash serious consideration.

i use the n810 all day as well, but haven't reflashed since the last os update. i've only done reset/clear device twice (from control panel). if you do that, make sure everything is backed up to your removeable card, or you'll lose it.

My experience tells me that the problem was exactly OMWeather, at least in my case. While I was using it, the system was way too slow and unresponsive, and hildon would crash quite often. Since I've stopped using it, everything seems to be fine. Now this doesn't mean that OMWeather is to blame. Could be some strange behavior caused by a multiple of causes, but in my case turning off the OMW helped.
