if you are desperate for an upgrade, just flash your phone to the global firmware image and then presto.....use the search button, it`s your friend!

you can download it to where you want but if its in the mydocs path you will need to run it in that path.
so
If it is in the mydocs folder

Code:
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/filename.deb
(Caps sensitive)

You know the main n900 folder? In filemanager it's the picture of an n900 and it's called your bluetooth name? Move the .deb to that folder then re do the command

?? Sorry not sure what you mean?

Where did you download the file too? - if you downloaded it straight into your MyDocs folder, then thats where the file will be.

Imagine it was a pc.... In windows your my documents nowadays sits under c:\documents and settings\username\documents.... or something like that... similar on your n900, just a set of different folder names

In this case, here
/home/user/MyDocs/filename.deb

alternatively in terminal you can do :

Code:
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
Press enter, then
Code:
dpkg -i filename.deb
edit it may need the below, not sure
Code:
dpkg -i ./filename.deb
press enter

Once you are in the right folder you can type ls ( 'LS'- in lower case, ls is the same as dir in dos) It will then list all files in that folder.
