I get a message:
"unable to install maemo-mapper packages missing :
libsqlite3-0(>=3.3.5)

Can someone let me know how to download this app correctly?

Thanks,

Aaron

search the forum. This problem has been addressed already. Basically there is something mixed up with your repositories. You may have to change "mistral" to "gregale". You may also need to manually install libsqlite. Again - this has been documented. Good luck!

I had the same problem with the 770, and then again with the n800. The solution worked for the n800, so I'm assuming this solution will also work for the 770.

1. Go into Application Manager->Tools->Application catalog->extras->details

2. Right now the web address (URL) should read "http://repository.maemo.org/extras"

3. Change the URL to "http://repository.maemo.org/"

This worked for Maemo Mapper as well as Python. Good luck to ya.

Welcome to the club.

Basically, there are two ways to install a program to your 770. You can either download a .deb file (a package) and install it directly (by clicking on a link in your browser and selecting "Open"), or you can use a repository and install via the Application Manager's UI. The latter is preferred because it will handle dependency resolution for you (the former does not).

A ".install" file is a sort-of "automatic" means to use the repository (and thus deal with dependency issues like the one you're currently having). By clicking on a .install link in your browser and selecting "Open" (similar to the "direct install" method described above), a repository is automatically set up for you, and the corresponding application is also selected for installation.

Use the following link to download the .install file for Maemo Mapper:

http://www.gnuite.com/nokia770/maemo-mapper.install

Using the .install file should solve your dependency problem.

I paired both the bluetooth devices and then started both the devices now I get a message "Establishing GPS Fix" I am really not sure what is this? and this is presisting since 1 day and I don't see any change. Please help me in setting up the same.

If the Nokia is new / not been switched on in a while / been moved a large distance, you will need to leave the GPS turned on outside with a clear view of the sky without moving it for some period of time, potentially up to an hour, so it can pick up the correct data from the satellites and work out it's correct position.

Even then, the GPS is likely to only work with a good view of the sky.

Well done gnuite, the installer file is the biz."
http://www.gnuite.com/nokia770/maemo-mapper.install" and after the successful install, I fooled the GPS screen into thinking the iMac was a bluetooth GPS to allow the program proceed to the mapping screen. Now I will purchase on eBay a suitable GPS to pair with it. anybody got a clear favourite unit?
This application is mind bogglling in its possibilities as I sail boats offshore as well as drive a car and getting lost is not an option in one of these activities. thanks muchly paulclan
