Its not because of the phone. It is the data transfer technology. With Gprs and Edge you cannot have simultaneous data and voice connections. But with 3G you can have both simultaneously.

yes sachin.. i guess most of us here know that..lemme explain d bug more clearly..usually when u r on gprs n a call comes in btw the gprs connection is temporarily suspended (u see a red line across the gprs icon) so that u can recieve the call..but as per d bug this is not happening on some handsets..that is, when someone calls ur n900 u dont get d call n d user gets a busy tone..

Yes i know that bug. I used to use the nokia 7710 in India in 2005. It has the same bug. I am not sure if it is specific for phoine or the GPRS network because my friend on iphone 3g also had the same problem when his phone had to switch to gprs in remote areas.

simply having the connection showing wont reject calls. but if you have active data transfer occuring through the gprs connection then you have a problem.

one way for damage control is to activate missed call alerts. then you have a chance to know who all u missed - or rather who all missed you. messgaes manage to come in when the connection is idle.

Vodafone India is a pity-full company.

the sooner we get to change networks without losing the number the better!

Yes people , since edge is active all the time ... therefore calls r getting missed because of active connection but thats operator dependent bug not a handset dependent bug....

Exactly vodafone india sucks....i used nokia messaging for 30 days and the subscription expired. i called nokia how to activate this back i was ready to pay for this but they said nokia messaging is not supported on vodafone. Only airtel in mumbai supports it. What a pitty....when no interoperability comes i am moving to airtel or ny other good provider.

I have the same problem. I have been in touch with Airtel, but they just keep sending me the same settings. Did you find a solution?
