Can someone let me know how to download this app correctly?

Thanks, Jeff

Sure: click here (with your Nokia device). Using the .install file automatically handles dependency resolution.

Still I get a failure notice. I clicked on your link, up came file download, then clicked saved, then OK to send file into "documents", openned in "application manager", clicked OK to install and same problem -- packages missing.

Are there different steps I need to follow?

First of all, make sure you're using the latest firmware. Based on previous posts of yours on ITT, I assume you have a 770. You'll need firmware revision 3.2006.49-2 or later - check the "Device" applet in the Control Panel to check your firmware version.

If it still doesn't work, then you can install the libsqlite3 package directly by clicking the following link:

http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...sso1_armel.deb

That may only solve part of the problem, though, because it sounds like dependency resolution may be broken on your device for some reason, which means you'll have to search the above URL (the directory) for any further dependencies that you need.

It's a new (3days old) 770 with 3.2006.49-2.
After trying to install your latest suggestion it says: "incompatible package".
Does this mean I will never be able to install and use "Mapper"?

If you can't install .deb packages targeted for the 770 (firmware v3.2006.49-2), packages like the above-referenced libsqlite3 package, then I would call Nokia technical support.

Thanks for your help Gnuite,

After "playing around" with application manager I got "mapper" to install. Do I know exactly how it happened? Not really, I am just a novice with this 770 OS, but having fun with the machine. Now, how do I download local maps? Do I use the repository entries for each map. The world map downloaded automatically. Thanks for putting up with my lack of expertise!

No problem - newbies are users, too!

I assume you don't have a GPS device (it's a lot easier if you do - just enable "Auto-Center" and zoom in a lot). You can tap on the map to center on that location. Use the hardware rocker buttons ("Zoom In" and "Zoom Out" on the upper-left of the device) to zoom in an out. You should be able to zoom in to your home location (if you are geographically savvy enough ).

Oh, and make sure "Auto-Download" is enabled, otherwise you'll have to manually download maps (via the "Manage Maps" dialog).

I'm getting there! Navigation is very easy! I tried saving a Google Satellite image in "route" and "track" under save. I put file in "documents" and "memory card". But, when I try to open file it says: unable to open.
Is it possible to save map or satellite images(when "mapper" is not running)? And how do I do it?

Thanks, Jeff

Forgive me, but I'm not sure that I understand what you're asking. You can't really save map data ("Google Satellite image") - it's already in the cache, and it's not very useful on its own. Are you asking about saving routes (i.e. directional data)?

If you want to "save map or satellite images(when "mapper" is not running)," then you have to use an external program like winmapper (search the forums).
