I would definitely donate 10€ for a playable version, and another 10€ for a perfect running port (check out the newest tuxracer version to understand what I mean).
I'd be glad to donate aswell!
I remember reading about the openGL ES mess before, it's highly annoying that this has to be such a stopper.

All I remember is that openGL comes in many flavours.
N900 and all other OMAP TI equipped handhelds out there support openGL 2.0 ES.

The trick is that GL 2.0 and GL 2.0 ES are quite different so porting becomes a quite complex process.

The game has to be ported to open GL ES first, no playing yet.

It's not available to N900. Bec has just drawn our attention to it as a game that would be nice to see on N900. (It would have been nice if that was made clear in the OP!)

I believe tuxracer (which by the way is great on the N900) uses a wrapper to handle the openGL/gles issue. The wrapper was posted in the thread re:tuxracer so perhaps that would be of some use in porting.

The current version of Super Tux Kart uses the irrlicht 3d graphics engine for all its rendering. Currently this supports DirectX, OpenGL and a custom software mode, but no OpenGLES 2.0. There is an pre-alpha OGLES2 driver in development for the iPhone which could form the basis of an N900 driver. I don't currently have the skills or free time to port though.

If we could get the irrlicht engine ported it would also make available a number of other games.
