Thanks for your work, this will enrich the election and will bring more voters for sure.
Sorry for any confusion. I am putting a blog post together with all candidates responses. The deadline is approaching, and I was hoping to publish today. Still waiting for many candidate's responses though.

So this group does not feel ignored, I have a few questions. I am not a developer, just a user, but as this is my only business phone and, aside from my MacBook, the only device I carry, I want to get all I can from it.

Questions for the website (whatever it is ultimately called)

1. Are there better ways to organize it to make it easier to find things? The search function is not very good, at least my attempts to search topics have not worked well. As with most creations, the layout and organization is intuitively obvious to the creator(s), but that does not always hold true for the rest of us.
2. Not wanting to quell free speech, could we create a “rant” section under talk so that we can more easily find the useful information? I want to see posts on issues, problems, and successes, but only when they are constructive and would rather not be distracted by those that are simply disruptive.

Of a more general nature:

3. As a new comer here I have sensed a culture clash. It seems the history of Maemo was largely a hangout for those well skilled in Linux and there was an assumption of what was understood and more importantly how the “community” worked. Now with the N900 there is the introduction of those, like me, who are not experts at Linux and do not have a long history of working in the “community” environment. Things like voting for what bugs to fix first, are totally foreign concepts. And yes, there will be some questions that make your eyes roll to the back of your head because many of us lack the skills you have. As this will likely get worse over time as more devices are introduced and the customer base grows, what would you change to facilitate a smoother and more productive co-existence?
4. What roles would you suggest for those not skilled at writing code or too timid to venture past the warning on the Extras-testing repository? Not everyone has the time or interest to participate but others may be willing but don’t know how to start.

To all candidates:

Aslan said to Caspian "If you had felt yourself sufficient, it would have been a proof that you were not".

In what ways do you feel Council membership will stretch you beyond your current personal capabilities, and how do you intend to respond to that stretching?

For sake of getting the additional set of questions to the candidates in a timely fashion, I am closing question submissions to this thread at this time. I will pick a few from here, and forward to the candidates. This additional set will be published on my blog along with their responses, providing they come in on time! Thanks everyone for your help in grilling the candidates. It should be a well contested election this time around.

Thank you all for the time you took to think up questions for our candidates. There were many great questions in this thread. Due to the short time till the close of campaigning, and my own very limited time at the moment, I have chosen the following 3 questions to include in the Candidates Q&A:

[Mandor]: In your opinion, what should happen to Maemo.org after the merge ?

[VDVsx]: Do you agree with the Extras QA process ? In your opinion, we should lower, raise or maintain the current entry barrier for extras ?

[GaryHT627]: As a new comer here I have sensed a culture clash. I will be sending these additional questions to the candidates for inclusion in the Q&A. I will alert you all when the Q&A goes up on my blog.

Thank you again for your time, and I hope you understand the limitations that I am working under!

Thank you for this effort I was a bit confused after reading your original post when I started seeing others answering questions in this thread. I also am not sure how the candidates are to receive these questions. I see questions posted and a reference to them having been sent to the candidates but I can't seem to find them in the community mailing list. I have been monitoring the Community council election debates/grillings and promotion thread that is maintained on this list and in fact I think I was the last to post to that thread on March 19.

I'm new to the list so I may have missed them.

If so, where and when can they be found by all the candidates? Being sensitive to the limitations that you are working under, when do you need to receive the candidates answers in order for them to to be published on your blog? How should they be delivered?

I am assuming this blog is the one in your signature where I recently read your interview with Peter Schneider, head of Maemo marketing at Nokia found >> HERE <<

Thanks again.

Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused. The remaining actions required of candidates are as follows:

1. email responses to the 10 questions that are listed below

2. email responses to the 3 community questions at:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...9&postcount=30

Once I get all candidates responses, I will publish a
post on my blog Mobile Tablets (http://mobiletablets.blogspot.com).

If you could be so kind as to get the initial set of 10 responses today, and the remaining 3 by tomorrow, that should work. I am hoping to finish compiling responses, preparing the post and
publishing by tomorrow, so as to have it ready for voting start.

I hope that helps, and many apologies for any confusion.

Questions from EIPI:

1. What is motivating you to run for Maemo Community Council?

2. Effective Council representation requires a commitment of
significant time and energy on your part. How are you planning to
fulfill your Council duties, while maintaining all your other
personal, professional and/or academic responsibilities.

3. The current Council has been criticized for lack of formal
communication on their activities. What formal methods and frequency
of communication do you believe are appropriate? Should all Council
members share this responsibility or only a select few?

4. The Maemo community has grown large, especially since the
introduction of the N900. With that, the issues the Community is
facing has grown in stride. Presently, there has been no formal
division within the Council, other than identification of a
Chairperson. Should members of the Council have roles or portfolios?
If yes, what portfolios are large enough to warrant a Council member
to devote a majority of their time to them?

5. Current terms are 6 months. Is this sufficient time for having
impact, or is it too short or too long?

6. The Council is privy to certain knowledge that a normal community
member is not. For you to function in your role, this is
understandable. However, the situation may arise where a subset of the
Council may be made privy to some knowledge, as happened recently with
the MeeGo announcement. Do you agree with Nokia's decision, or do you
think the entire Council should have been given the same information
at the same time, and under the same restrictions?

7. It seems that this term of the Maemo Community Council will be a
busy one with MeeGo unfolding, possibly a new device rolling out of
Finland, and of course, organization of the annual Summit. What
priorities do you think the Council should keep during this term?

8. There are many strong candidates running in this election. Some
have had open disagreements with each other in the past. How do you
propose to overcome such interpersonal differences while carrying out
your Council duties?

9. Previous Councils have put together proposals for new resources or
improving existing community resources. An example of this is the
creation of the role of Distmaster. What resources would you propose
requiring improvement, and why? What new resources would you champion
if elected?

10. MeeGo is our future. The future is unfortunately unclear at the
moment. The Maemo Community requires strong leadership at this time.
Can you provide a summary of your leadership style? What do you think
the Council's challenges will be with respect to MeeGo in the coming 6
months, and how are you planning on addressing them?
